Optional Extra Credit!

As an optional extra credit assignment and just for fun because you can, watch the movie, Minority Report (2002!).  This film was directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, and Max von Sydow. "In a future where a special police unit is able to arrest murderers before they commit their crimes, an officer from that unit is himself accused of a future murder."

Can you believe this was produced in 2002?

After you watch the film, please reflect on how the methodologies used in the film are similar to what is emerging today in big data.  Specifically recall the Tricia Wang TED talk and her story about the Greek oracle. How does this film prophesize the future?  Share 3 examples of the relationship between the technology and the human impact in the film and the our current lived reality in big data.

Please complete this assignment by the end Module 7, Sunday February 19.  You can earn up to 3 extra points for completion of this extra credit assignment.  Have fun!
