Syllabus - A few items to note

A few items to note from the syllabus:

  1. Office hours are Monday from 5-6 p.m. PDT via Zoom Links to an external site. or via appt.
  2. You are required to obtain all the readings for the course. They are FREE from the library or link provided. PLEASE do not email me and tell me you can’t find an article as I will not be emailing you the article. Instead, please ask a classmate, such as a member of your peer review group, or contact the library for help.  If you hit any sort of paywall, make sure you are logging into the library system with your SU credentials.
  3. You will be writing 4 scholarly essays.  All are due at the beginning of the week before the content is covered.  Students need to turn in two essay papers prior to the mid-term and not wait until the remaining weeks of the course to turn in the essays. Thus, please upload your essay for a given week by 11:59 p.m. Sunday evening.  Late essays (after the module is opened at 12:01 a.m. on Monday) will not be accepted. When you submit your essays via Canvas, please simply label your files with your last name and the Essay number that you are submitting. For example, Smith-Essay1 or Jones-Essay4
  4. You will be able to participate in a peer-to-peer review process of your essays before you submit them to me.
  5. There are many aspects to your discussion grade including:
    1. discussions of a core question that I pose;
    2. discussion on videos that I may post;
    3. any weekly discussions of policy implications; and
    4. group discussions of empirical articles (done on your own as needed by you and your classmates).  In order to receive full discussion/participation points, you will need to contribute across all forums consistently and regularly.
