1) Write down all the subsets of the following set:

A={1,a,{2,b}}

2) For the following sets

A = {a,b,c}

and

B = {a,d,e}

find the followings:

a) A∩B

b) A−B

c) B−A

d) (A−B)∪(B−A)

3) Determine the following summation in closed-form

S=∑i=0n−1(12)i+2i

(10 points)

 

4) Find the inverse of the following function:

f(x)=x2−1

when the domain and target of the function is the set of non-negative integers.

(5 points)

 

5) Find the value of x,y,z in the following vector equation:

[4−22]+2[x1y]−3[2x3−1]=[6z2]
