Get a Course Template

We have created some templates to make building your course easier. There are different templates for different situations and all can be modified to suit your needs by following the directions on Personalize Your Homepage .

Template Redesign and Additional Updates: In March 2024, CDLI updated the Canvas course templates to include redesigned visual elements (including new color schemes, page banners and other aesthetic changes), updates for accessibility (including removing tables from the home page navigational portal), updates for enhanced design and functionality for mobile users, and integrating a TILT framework for assignments, discussions and quizzes for increased transparency that helps students better understand how and why they are doing what they are doing in their course.

Zoom Update: Beginning Fall 2022, CDLI's Canvas course templates still contain the Zoom integration but Zoom is no longer enabled by default as the university transitions away from synchronous online courses offered in response to the COVID emergency. The Canvas-Zoom integration can be enabled under your course's settings if needed.

Take a look at the templates below and click on the View Template links to confirm you are choosing the template that best suits your needs. Once you have chosen a template, you can download it to your desktop—you will not be able to open the IMSCC template file directly—and then follow the directions on the next page, Import a Course Template into Your Course.

Note: If you do not yet have a Canvas course shell, CDLI can create a PREP space for you. Just choose a template and email CDLI at cdli@seattleu.edu.
