Embedding Media

Embedding is a great way to add content. You can embed the content you create as well as online content that has an embed code. Every site has its own way of guiding you to the embed code (the code you will copy and insert into your course page), but once you get used to hunting for embed codes you will start to see a pattern. Most sites have a share link, an embed link, or some combination of both. Below are some icons for share and embed links as well as  examples of how to find embed codes on Vimeo, TED and YouTube. There is also an example of how to create an embed code in Adobe Spark, which is a tool you might decide to use. At the very bottom of the page are the basic steps for inserting media into your Canvas page.

Vimeo

For Vimeo the share link is (weirdly) a paper airplane. If you click on the plane it will open a link that allows you to link, email or embed.

TED

TED talks often provide useful material for courses. To include a TED Talk in your course, click on the Share Arrow to open a window where you can grab a link or an embed code.

YouTube

For YouTube you will see a little share icon. When you click on the share icon it will open up another window that offers the possibility sharing a link, getting a embed code or emailing.

Adobe Spark

When you create something in Adobe Spark you will have the option to share. Clicking on the share link will lead to a page where you can name your work and start the process of creating a link for it. Spark will then produce a link as well as an embed code for your work.

Inserting Media into Canvas

The first step is to click on the Insert Media icon in the Rich Text Editor.
