CENTERING WISDOM

  1. Reflection: Rev. Donalson III mentioned a concept coined by bell hooks called cathexis which is an attachment to things that are not subsinative to a particular feeling. How do we know when we are experiencing this cathexis?

  2. Reflection: When fear is the opposite of love Rev. Donalson believes this keeps us from caring about each other. How do you see this fear present around you and in your own life?

  3. Activity: Exclusion often takes place when we are unable to hear others perspectives and lived realities because of fear or discomfort. Discuss with another person for 10-15 moments in your life where you felt excluded and you did the excluding, how did you move past these moments? Were they solved at all?
