Online Facilitation Tips: Pre-Course Checklist
Make Sure Your Course Is Ready
Always review your entire course before you publish it for student access. Encountering outdated material or broken links can negatively affect a student’s experience. Although you can always fix issues later, it’s best to avoid them in the first place. Plan to review and prepare the course 1-2 weeks before it begins. Use the Pre-Course Checklist (Links to an external site.) as a guide.
Also, be sure to familiarize yourself with the various technologies that are used in the course. For example, assignments may ask that students post to a board using an electronic white board called ‘Padlet’ or record and submit videos using ‘Studio’. You may want to use Zoom, a synchronous Skype-type application. Contact CDLI if you need training on any of the tools used in the course.
