MEETING 9: What We'll Do
Today you will be putting in the discussion prompts for all of your course's discussions into the description areas. If your discussions include media, file uploads, or links to other websites, those should be included as well. Once you have all of the prompts done, you will be able to sit back and read through them to see if your discussions are getting deeper into the material as students move through the course, to see if there are gaps or redundancies and to put yourself in the place of the students, "Would I be intrigued by the questions in these discussions or would I see it as an add-on to the course material?"
What to Bring
- Your discussion prompts.
- Any videos, links to articles or websites, images or other media you may need to include with the prompts.
- Ideas about how you would like to grade the discussions so that we can talk this over.
What We'll Do
- We will put all of the discussion prompts, instructions, attached files and/or embedded media in your Canvas discussions.
- Talk about how you want to grade your discussions. You may want to use a rubric. If so, we can attach a rubric, add grading schema, and click relevant options and group settings as needed.
- You may decide to not grade the discussions but instead assign a reflective paper that asks students to summarize the discussion, pull out relevant posts, talk about their own posts in relation to other's, etc. If you are not sure, we will go over this when we meet.
What to Do Before We Meet Again
- Make sure all of your discussion prompts are in and that your discussions are set up accordingly.
