Making Banners
As you know from the accessibility tutorial, we avoid using text within an image since it cannot be read by a screen reader. However, there are some times when you just need a banner. As long as you are clear in your alt text and include a description of the image as well as the text, creating a banner is a reasonable workaround. Below are three options for creating banners that don't involve Photoshop. One of the easiest ways to create a banner is to use PowerPoint and save the slide as an image. We have some PowerPoint templates for banners that work with our homepage templates and have linked to them below. The other two suggestions below, Adobe Spark and Canva, provide a number of fun templates and are easy to work with.
