MEETING 3: What We'll Do

Robot 3Now that you have done the hard work of identifying the core concepts you want your students to remember, as well as what might get in the way of their understanding, it is time to look at some options.  We will begin by looking at a set of options from CDLI's Activity Card Game. Since this is one-on-one instruction from a distance, it isn't feasible to play the card game but we can take a look at activity ideas that is listed on the Card Game's "placemat."  In addition, we'll explore the Blended Flow Map for even more ideas.

After that, we'll take a look at CDLI's Gadget Finder to see if there are any tools to support the activities that have come up from our perusal of the Placemat and Blended Flow Map. One of the comments we hear frequently is "I would love to do this with my students but it can't be done online." There are still some things that are impossible to do online but, more often than not, there is an online solution.

What to Bring

What We'll Do

  • We will first take a look at the Card Game's Placemat for ideas.
  • Then we will take a look at the Blended Flow Map, which is a bit like the Placemat on steroids.
  • Make notes about ideas are workable and what questions do you still have.
  • We'll also take a peek at the CDLI Gadget Finder to see if there are any technologies (however simple) that you might need for assignments you are contemplating.
  • Then we will try out some of them to determine ease of use and suitability.
