There are many ways to approach the design (or re-design) of a course. In the past six years, there have been many iterations of the CDLI Course Design program, but five elements have endured. We will frame our work around these these guiding questions:
Who are my students? What are the unique characteristics of my learners? What do they do well and what are their roadblocks?
What do I need my students to fully grasp? What is the end goal?
What could I do differently? What new ideas can I come up with?
What assignments will I have them do? What assignments and activities will help them grasp the material?
How will I scaffold those assignments throughout my course? How will I set up the flow of my course?
