This course is designed to teach collaborative consultation skills to students in special education, literacy for special needs, school psychology and counseling within the framework of the models and functional aspects of consultation and the context of research-based intervention. Students will learn collaborative school consultation skills and use these skills to develop and implement intervention strategies. Students will have knowledge of behavioral, mental health, collaborative, and other consultation models and methods and of their application to particular situations. This course will provide students skills to effectively consult with teachers, families and other professionals who work with or have children and adolescents with disabilities and from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds including English Language Learners who are presenting learning and/or behavioral difficulties.
