How to Get the Most Out of CDLI

The most successful participants take advantage of the many resources CDLI offers. Note that we will not be covering the basics of how to use Canvas in the Course Design program. If you need Canvas training, please plan to attend Express Workshops or schedule a one-on-one consultation with Luke Ware.

CDLI Courses and Resources

• Express Workshops Links to an external site.
  These hands-on, application-focused workshops focus on particular applications or functions. The workshops change each quarter but are always just an hour. Visiting the calendar Links to an external site. is the best way to see what is coming up.
  
  
• Individual Consultations Links to an external site.
  If you can't make it to a scheduled Express Workshop, or have very specific questions, consider scheduling a one-on-one consultation.
  
  
• Online Course Facilitation Workshop Links to an external site.
  This is a fully online, two-week course which will assist you in creating a plan for infusing instructor and community presence as you teach online courses.
  
  
• Course Design II Links to an external site.
  Course Design II is held in the Spring quarter and allows those who have completed the first Course Design program to dive deeper into content delivery.
  
  
• CDLI Help Center Links to an external site.
  The Help Center provides you and your students how-to guides and technical assistance with learning technologies such as Canvas and Zoom.
  
  
• Faculty Presentations Links to an external site.
  Each term we ask Course Design alumni to present about what technology or online pedagogies worked (or didn't work) in their classroom. These are casual, brown bag lunches and are a CDLI favorite.

  Don't have an iPad? No problem. We have iPads, as well as other gadgets, for you to experiment with as well as a growing library of books about topics pertaining to course design.

  During the Course Design program, you will visit the CDLI Toolkit often for page templates and our famous, one-of-a-kind Gadget Finder, and more.
  
  
• Orientation to Online Learning
  This is a student-focused, self-paced tutorial for students taking online and hybrid courses. We recommend that you incorporate this resource into your course introduction.
