Airtable allows users to organize their content, ideas, projects, and records into a centralized system. It functions as a typical spreadsheet but is more powerful because of its relational database capability. The software can link related records and data, enabling users to directly access the information in one database from another database and vice versa. We used Airtable Links to an external site. on the List of Colleagues page and the List of CDLI Staff page. We also used an Airtable Intake Form in the Persona Mapping exercise
Padlet is a favorite faculty tool because it is so easy to set up and invite students to contribute multimedia content from across the web. No membership or sign-up is expected of students, so it can be a great forum to share anonymously. Padlet can also serve as a replacement to the standard Canvas discussion tool or as a supplement to share projects in your face-to-face classroom. You are welcome to use the limited free Padlet account, or contact cdli@seattleu.edu to get an unlimited faculty account. We used Padlet Links to an external site. on the Post Your Project Here page.
ThingLink is a user-friendly digital tool that allows users to turn any image into an interactive graphic. By creating multiple "hot spots" on specific parts of an image that image can be turned into a multimedia launcher. ThingLink allows users to include video, record audio or provide a link to any website with the click of a button. Interactive ThingLink graphics can be embedded into any blog or website. We used ThingLink Links to an external site. on The Circle: A Framework for Online Jesuit Education page.
Spark is a free, web-browser based, presentation and storytelling tool that provides built-in storyboards, an attractive icon set, and template styles that make it easy to create video presentations and attractive webpages that can be embedded in Canvas. We used a Spark Links to an external site. Page with a Glideshow to create the Map Examples page in Week 6.
H5P provides many interactive content widgets that can be embedded into a Canvas course, including collapsible content accordions, charts, flash cards, drag and drop exercises, fill in the blank exercises, image hotspots, memory games, etc. Please note that responses are not recorded in H5P, so this tool is best for embedding self-check lessons into your course content; this tool is not well-suited for assessment purposes.
