Receiving Comments on Individual Posts

Remember that your visitors can already leave feedback on your Contact Me page. Don't want to enable comments on individual posts? Please proceed to the Questions to Get You Started lesson in the module titled "Your Home, Resume, Outcomes, and other Pages".

First thing you'll want to do is change your site's administrator email so you'll receive an email notification when someone comments on your blog posts. First, go to Settings > General on your Wordpress Dashboard.

On the next screen enter your SeattleU email in the Email Address box, and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

You will shortly receive a confirmation email titled New Admin Email Address. Click the link in this email to confirm your change.

Now you're ready to enable comments on your posts by going to the Posts tab in your Wordpress Dashboard navigation and selecting All Posts.

Hover over the post you'd like to enable comments on, click the Quick Edit link, click the checkbox for Allow Comments, and then click Update.

You can now receive comments on this post! You will receive an email when new comments are left on your posts. You can approve new comments by going to the Comments tab on your Wordpress Dashboard and hovering your mouse over the new comment. From there you can approve, post a public reply to the comment, mark the comment as spam (i.e.: comment from unverified source), and trash the comment.
