How to Set Up a Quiz

Below are very basic instructions for creating a quiz. For more detailed information about quizzes visit the CDLI Help Center Links to an external site..

Quizzes are useful to check for understanding. They can also be used to deliver content since the Rich Text Editor is available in the Quiz tool. The Quiz tool allows you to create surveys as well.

If you are using Modules (and we encourage you to do so) the easiest way to create a new assignment is to go to the Module where you want your assignment to appear. (Don't worry if you are not sure where you want the assignment; you can drag the assignment around and even to other modules after you have created it.)

Step 1

Click the plus sign in the Module row.

Step 6

The Quiz is unusual in that it has two editing areas. One is the "Details" of the quiz with a space for special instructions, whether or not it is graded, etc,

The second editing tab is where you will add Questions. There are a variety of question types and you can learn more from the CDLI Help Center Links to an external site. but the main thing to remember when creating questions for a quiz is that you will need to save multiple times. You will need to save within the questions, the questions themselves and any changes you've made to the quiz. The save buttons are easy to miss and often frustrate people when they are creating a quiz.
