Purpose:
Communication and composition happen in more than just essays and writing assignments. As technology advances, you will have the more and more opportunities in your education, career, and personal life communicate information in a variety of ways.
You should find at least 3 credible resources to help you with your project. These resources can help you with information about your topic, how to organize or create your project, how to do a presentation, how to write a reflection essay, more information bout modes or media, more information about how to persuade, or whatever other help you need. All of your resources must be listed on a Works Cited page at the end of your reflection essay, and on a Works Cited slide if you so a PowerPoint, or included in a Prezi.
This Assignment has Three Parts:
- Multimodal Project
Multimodality describes communication practices in terms of the modes used to create a message. Your task is to choose a media and use several modes to create a single persuasive project. Everything from the placement of images to the organization of the content creates meaning.
- To Persuade means to prevail on (a person or group) to do something, as by advising or urging, or to induce them to believe an idea by appealing to Logos, Ethos, and Pathos.
- Choose a topic that is important to you, maybe something in your career or educational path
- Research your topic using credible sources (be sure to keep a list of your sources for your reflection essay)
- Includes the use of Logos, Ethos, and Pathos
- Purpose: What is the reason, what is the thing you are trying to persuade your audience?
- Why is it important?
- Who is your Audience? Is there a secondary audience?
- What is the best way to convey your information to your audience (what media will you use?

Your presentation should be an abbreviated version of your reflection essay. If your project is a Prezi or PowerPoint, your presentation of it can be a voice-over. If it is a poster, pamphlet, or something that you can hold in your hands, it can be a 3-5 minute video of you presenting and explaining it. If your project is a video or podcast, include a written 1-page introduction and description for your classmates.

2-3 pages typed, double spaced

MLA Style
Your essay should include:
- Explain your use of Logos, Ethos, and Pathos
- An introduction that contains an effective hook, introduction of content, and thesis
- Includes a summary of your project’s content
- Explains your choices, including audience, media, purpose, modes, processes, resources
- Uses multiple body paragraphs that are effectively organized
- Properly cites textual evidence using MLA guidelines and include a Works Cited page
- Provides a clear and concise conclusion that summarizes the main ideas of the essay
- Stays consistent in tense and perspective (first or third person)
- Displays a strong command of the English language including concision, cohesion, sentence variation, and Standard English conventions
- Mechanics: your essay should include proper grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling.
Peer review
You will peer review the Reflection Essay for two of your classmates, and two of your classmates will peer review your essay. I will provide a worksheet for the reviews. Your job as a reviewer is to give your classmates constructive feedback which will help them improve their paper. You will be expected to read your classmates reviews and use them to edit your paper. You will turn in the peer reviews (by your classmates about your paper) at the first class meeting after the essay is due.
